March is here! Week of 3/4-3/8

The first week of March already!  WOW...time sure does fly!

Last week we were lucky enough to have two travel tots classes since her second one for the month of February was pushed back a week and then the first of March fell on that Friday!

This week we have Music class with Tasha on Friday!  The kids are looking forward to it already!

We will also celebrate Talon's 5th birthday on Thursday!  I just can't believe how fast all these kids are growing up!

Tuesday Afternoon, I have an appt RIGHT at 5:00.  If you could try to pick up by about 4:40/4:45 that'd be great.  If that is not possible, no big deal but when I have to leave the kids that remain at daycare will either stay here for the last few minutes with my mom, Linnea, or my husband Chris!

I will have newsletters and music for the month either today or tomorrow.  But here are a few important reminders for the month:

Week of Feb. 11-15

Finally some more fresh snow to play in!!!
What a great group of kids!

The kids had a blast playing outside last week!  I have seen great improvement in some of them getting all their own snow gear on themselves!  It is amazing how much faster we can get outside when they can do that!

Last Friday, had music class with Tasha and loved singing and playing instruments with her!

On Thursday we will be having a Valentines Day party!  Wear your best red, white or pink clothes in honor of this holiday full of LOVE!  Feel free to bring Valentines for all the kids.  There are 11 kids.  It is easiest if you just leave the name section blank and then the kids can just hand them out instead of trying to match names!

This week Erin will be here in the afternoon on Friday.  My family is heading out early to get to our cabin for a nice long weekend.  REMINDER, DAYCARE IS CLOSED MONDAY, FEB. 18th FOR PRESIDENTS DAY!

We always find fun things to do even on the bitter cold days!

FLU SEASON IS IN FULL SWING

I know many of us had some illness over Christmas break, but it seems to be a horrible year for colds, flu, strep throat, etc.  PLEASE work with your child on washing hands, covering their coughs and sneezes and pay attention to your child's health.  Keep them home if they are showing symptoms of being ill.

Last week, the kids had a great time with Tasha at Music class.  They were excited to see her baby, Alice!

This week we have Travel Tots Friday morning.

The week is going to start out pretty cold, so we may not get a chance to get outside until the second half of the week.  Please help me keep pick up time under control by having your children get ready calmly when you arrive so that we can clear out and make room for other parents coming during our pick up "rush hour."

For any parents who have children starting kindergarten next year, here is a link to the Mounds View Schools Kindergarten round up schedule.  It is coming up in the next couple weeks.

Also, anyone with a child between 3.5 and 4 years should sign up for their preschool screening with the Early childhood department.  It is free if you do it in the school district that your child will be attending. This is a crucial part of getting ready for school.  They let you know things that are on track, things you could work on, and any concerns they have with plenty of time to continue working on it prior to kindergarten enrollment.  It is a requirement for the Mounds View Schools, not sure about other districts.

Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is grow ing and developing. Between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before they start kindergarten.

At the screening appointment, a licensed school nurse checks vision, hearing, height and weight, immunization status, large and small muscles, thinking, language and communication skills and social and emotional development.

Call the Early Childhood Screening appointment desk at (651) 621-7420 to schedule your child's FREE screening today!
